Apple brings two new voices to Siri – Eagles Vine

For those who use Siri regularly, Apple is making some big changes — for the better — to its voice-based assistant. Siri for the first time will get two new voices and users will have the option to choose them.
Till now, Siri had a default voice but now users can choose the voice that speaks to them right from the start when they set up their device. Further, Siri is the first major voice assistant to not have a voice default. Google Assistant’s default voice is female whereas Amazon Alexa is only female.
The new Siri voices leverage Neural Text to Speech (Neural TTS) technology for a more natural sound experience.
The new voices are available to English speaking users around the world, and Siri users can now select the voice they prefer in 16 languages when setting up their device.
“We’re excited to introduce two new Siri voices for English speakers and the option for Siri users to select the voice they want when they set up their device. This is a continuation of Apple’s long-standing commitment to diversity and inclusion, and products and services that are designed to better reflect the diversity of the world we live in,” said Apple in a statement.
For the record, Siri handles 25 billion requests per month on more than 500 million devices across the world. Siri also supports 21 languages in 36 countries. Siri works on every Apple device, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, HomePod mini and the Watch among others.
