TOI Poll: Fans feel RCB can break title jinx in IPL 2021, closely followed by Delhi Capitals | Cricket News – Eagles Vine

NEW DELHI: With two-time defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2021 opener in Chennai tonight, fans are excited even in otherwise gloomy times due to a steep rise on the number of Covid19 cases in the country. ran a poll asking fans five questions on IPL 2021 talking points and these are the results.
The first question was: Which team has the best chance of breaking their IPL title jinx this season? And the options were of course the three teams which are yet to get their hands on the coveted trophy – Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings.
Perennial under-achievers RCB and last year’s runners-up DC were interestingly neck and neck here, with 1997 votes being polled in favour of RCB and 1988 votes polled for DC. Punjab Kings were a distant third with only 615 votes.

The second question was: Will Chennai Super Kings bounce back hard this season and once again be one of the top teams?
CSK had a harrowing time last season. They were the first team to be officially eliminated from the play-offs race and eventually finished seventh.
While 2236 votes were polled saying CSK can bounce back hard in IPL 2020, 2366 votes went to the ‘No’ option.
The three-time champions had failed to make the playoffs for the first time in the tournament’s history in the last season, played in the UAE.

The third question in the poll conducted was: Which of these wicket-keeper captains will have the best IPL outing this time? And the options were: MS Dhoni, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul.
Pant, who was named DC captain in the absence of an injured Shreyas Iyer, came out as a clear winner here with 2292 votes being polled in his favour.
Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul got 1344 votes, while Dhoni, who retired from international cricket last year, got only 963 votes.

The fourth question was: Which of these two new captains will do a better job? The options of course were Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. While Pant has been handed the reins of the DC team, Samson has been made in charge of the Rajasthan Royals franchise.
Not surprisingly, Pant, who emerged as a match-winner for India in the recent series against Australia and England, got 3403 votes, while Rajasthan Royals captain Samson got 1195 votes.

The fifth and the last question was: Are you worried the IPL 2021 schedule could be affected by the current Covid-19 situation in India?
Most of the fans are clearly apprehensive amid the recent surge in Covid cases. 3028 votes were polled for the ‘Yes’ option here while 1569 votes were for the ‘No’ option, with these fans confident that the tournament will conclude without any disruptions caused by Covid-19.
