There is one positive with this Zach Wilson interception

Observations from Jets training camp on Monday.

It’s difficult to find the positive in a Zach Wilson interception, but here it goes: When Wilson overthrew WR Denzel Mims in 11-on-11 drills, S Sharrod Neasman made the catch off the tip and immediately sprinted in the other direction with a lead blocker. With so many young cornerbacks, the Jets need their safeties to play like veterans and the six-year pro Neasman looks like a sneaky smart June addition behind starters Marcus Maye and Lamarcus Joyner.

TE Tyler Kroft dropped a pass in the flat with room to run during 7-on-7. The Rutgers product, who had seven touchdowns in 2017, is getting first-team reps in a wide-open tight end competition, but he has been plagued by the drops throughout camp.

Caught My Eye

With S J.T. Hassell up near the line of scrimmage barking out instructions and the rest of the defense sliding in response, CB Zane Lewis was in perfect position to make an interception off QB James Morgan. The pass over the middle had no clear intended receiver. It was one of three interceptions for the defense on the day.

Zach Wilson’s Day

Wilson was 4-for-4 with touchdown throws to TE Chris Herndon and RB Michael Carter during the first 7-on-7 red-zone period from the 20-yard line. But he was intercepted for a second time when CB Bryce Hall jumped in front of WR Jamison Crowder when the drill’s starting point moved to the 10-yard line. Wilson finished 7-of-11 in team periods in a hot-and-cold practice.

Medical Report

DL Quinnen Williams was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform List and re-joined individual drills. WR Elijah Moore (quad) worked to the side with trainers and will not return this week, per coach Robert Saleh. TE Ryan Griffin injured his hamstring running after a catch. LT Mekhi Becton didn’t miss any snaps but walked with limp between plays after a fall to the ground.
