Road Safety World Series: Yuvraj Singh smashes 4 sixes in a row after Sachin Tendulkar’s 37-ball 60

Yuvraj Singh took fans down the memory lane on Saturday as the World Cup-winning former India all-rounder struck as many as 4 sixes in a row in an over for India Legends against South Africa Legends in their group-stage match in Raipur. Yuvraj took the attack to medium-pacer Zander de Bruyne, hitting him for 4 sixes in a row during India Legends’ innings at the Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium.

Yuvraj Singh was in the mood to send out a few out of the park and he did so when facing the medium pacer. Yuvraj rocked back on the backfoot and hit a length ball over the mid-wicket fence in the 2nd ball of the over by de Bruyn. Yuvraj was at his vintage best as he flicked the next one over mid-wicket before hitting two more in the over.

Yuvraj Singh finished with a 22-ball 52, hitting 6 sixes and 2 boundaries as he pushed India Legends’ score to 204 for 3 in 20 overs. Yuvraj was at his free-flowing best as he hit sixes at will against the South Africa Legends bowlers.

Earlier in the day, fans were treated to some more vintage stuff as India Legends captain and batting great Sachin Tendulkar set Raipur on fire with a 37-ball 60. Tendulkar hit 9 boundaries and a six as he was in full flow after Virender Sehwag departed early.

While Yuvraj Singh remained unbeaten on 52, Subramaniam Badrinath retired hurt on 42. All-rounder Yusuf Pathan smashed 10-ball 23 while in-form Manpreet Singh Gony hit 16 from 9 balls.

South Africa Legends were restricted to 148 for 7 in response as India Legends won their final league stage encounter by 56 runs. India are likely to make it to the semi-final of the Road Safety World Series.

WATCH: Yuvraj Singh hits 4 sixes on the trot

Taking to social media, former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar lauded Yuvraj Singh, saying he thoroughly enjoyed that knock from the all-rounder.

“‘In my prime I used to hit 6 sixes, now I am hitting 4 sixes!’ Love you Yuvi! Thoroughly enjoyed that! #Legends,” Manjrekar wrote quoting Yuvraj.

Yuvraj was referring to his feat of 6 sixes in an over in the T20 World Cup against England in 2007. Yuvraj took on Stuart Broad and became the first-ever batsman in T20 cricket to hit 6 sixes. Only recently, West Indies captain Kieron Pollard achieved the feat in a T20I game against Sri Lanka in Antigua.

Former England batsman and the captain of the England Legends team at the Road Safety World Series was also awestruck by Yuvraj’s power-hitting against South Africa Legends.

“One of the most beautiful things in cricket is watching the #PieChucker hitting sixes so easily!” Pietersen wrote.

India Legends finished the league stages of the Road Safety World Series on top of the table with 20 points from 6 matches. Their only defeat came against England Legends earlier this month.
