RCB fans can’t keep calm on Twitter as IPL 2021 suspension ends dream run of Virat Kohli’s team

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has started to trend on social media after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the suspended of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Tuesday.

‘RCB Fans’ has been one of the top trends on Twitter after news of the tournament getting suspended indefinitely due to the Covid-19 crisis in India.

Memes and jokes surrounding the franchise have been doing the rounds as fans of the other 7 franchises are saying how RCB will be the most disappointed right now as they were looking good to go the distance in the tournament this season.

RCB made their best-ever start to an IPL season, winning their first four games to grab the top spot on the points table. The team was performing like a well-oiled machine under Virat Kohli as finally all the pieces of the puzzle seemed to have come together for them this season.

RCB were third with 5 wins from 7 games before the suspension ended their dream run. RCB can still hope to make history as the IPL could be played at a later date but chances of it restarting any time soon remain bleak.

RCB fans also expressed all sorts of emotions on Twitter after the suspension.

The IPL 2021 saw 5 players – Andrew Tye (RR), Liam Livingstone (RR), Kane Richardson (RCB), Adam Zampa (RCB) and Ravichandran Ashwin (DC) – leave the tournament last week amid the rising Covid cases in India.

4 players – Varun Chakravarthy (KKR), Sandeep Warrier (KKR), Wriddhiman Saha (SRH) and Amit Mishra (DC) – tested positive for Covid within the last 24 hours. CSK bowling coach L Balaji and a bus cleaner also contracted the virus.
