Giants coach Joe Judge requested a replay review after the Broncos scored a touchdown midway through the third quarter of Sunday’s loss at MetLife Stadium — even though all scoring plays are automatically reviewed.
So, when Judge threw his flag just as the Broncos snapped for the PAT, the replay booth already had determined that Albert Okwuegbunam stayed in-bounds before diving at the pylon.
And thus, the Giants were charged a second-half timeout.
It capped a rough play for the Giants. Big Blue safety Xavier McKinney failed to catch up to a backpedaling Teddy Bridgewater just before the Broncos quarterback dumped the ball to Okwuegbunam — who broke a tackle by Blake Martinez at the 6-yard line and found the end zone.
A worst-case scenario on many fronts for the Giants.
