James Harden silent after Rockets return – but Twitter was not

James Harden returned to the court on Tuesday night – and the internet certainly took notice.

The Rockets star played in his first game of the preseason, after holding out of training camp and demanding a trade. His performance was nothing to write home about – 12 points on 3-of-10 shooting with three turnovers – but the most notable aspect of his return was a photo from pregame warmups that went viral.

Harden showed up to the game looking a bit heftier than usual, with one particular moment dramatically emphasizing that difference.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter had jokes. @Netw3rk tweeted, “we’re overreacting to player empowerment bc the james harden “ill eat until you trade me” move is clearly an outlier.”

Former NBA star Kendrick Perkins quote tweeted the photo, saying, “Yep I got a wig on.” Former NFL player Andrew Hawkins also captioned the photo with “James Olive Harden.”

According to XXL Magazine, the photo got Rick Ross’ name trending, due to the apparent resemblance between the rapper and the new-look Harden.

Harden did not speak to the media after the game was over, as he is still apparently unhappy with the Rockets organization and unwavering with his trade demands with the Nets and 76ers his most likely destinations.

But the internet did plenty of talking on his behalf.
