India vs England: Injured Cheteshwar Pujara absent on field after injuring hand

India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara won’t be fielding during England’s first innings in the ongoing 2nd Test on Day 2 after injuring his right hand while batting at Chepauk.

Pujara was hit on his hand when he was batting during India’s first innings on the first day on Saturday.

India lost their final 4 wickets for 29 runs as England bowled out the visitors for 329 on Day 2 at the MA Chidambaram stadium.

Rohit Sharma top-scored for the hosts in their first innings with 161, while Ajinkya Rahane (67) and Rishabh Pant (58 not out) struck half-centuries.

Moeen Ali was the pick of the England bowlers, claiming 4 wickets for 128 runs, while Olly Stone returned 3 for 47 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.

England are 1-0 up in the four-test series having won the opening match by 227 runs.

Earlier, India had reached 300 for 6 on the first day after a brilliant hundred by opener Rohit Sharma and crucial contributions from Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant in the middle.

Rohit Sharma (161) scored his seventh tTst century and put on 162 runs with Ajinkya Rahane (67) for the fourth wicket. Both batsmen were dismissed after tea as England fought back in the final session.
