The list of injured players in the Indian contingent continues to grow and it has been learnt that Jasprit Bumrah, leader of India pace attack, in the ongoing series with Australia, is likely to miss the 4th and final Test because of abdomen strain.
India Today has also learnt that opener Mayank Agarwal, who was dropped from the third Test, got hit on his hand and has gone for scans. The right-hander will replace Hanuma Vihar in the final Test if scans show no fracture. Notably, Vihari incurred hamstring injury during the third Test at SCG.
In case, Mayank is also ruled out, India will play Prithvi shaw. Whoever plays between the two will bat at number 3, India Today has learnt. Mohammed Siraj in his 3rd test will lead the attack in what is the big series decider. As we speak Jadeja is being operated on in Sydney. He will then travel back to India and will be out for a month to 5 weeks.
These are not at all welcomes news for Team India as they have already lost Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul to injuries. Rohit Sharma also missed the starting two matches due to injuries, while senior most pacer Ishant Sharma could not even travel to Australia.
Intensity of losing Jasprit Bumrah for the 4th and decisive Test match is even more considering that talismanic all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who suffered a dislocated thumb after being hit by a Mitchell Starc bouncer, will travel back to India and head to NCA after consulation with doctors in Sydney.
Now, 2-match-old Mohammed Siraj will lead the pace attack. SCG Test debutant Navdeep Saini will partner with Siraj and it will be interesting to see who between Shardul Thakur and T Natarajan gets a debut chance in Brisbane.
