In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, India is battling another virus as several states are battling to contain bird flu or avian influenza. Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has postponed his plans to order new consignment of Kadaknath and Gramapriya chicken due to the bird flu scare.
Dr. Vishwaranjan, who oversees the Kadaknath and Gramapriya hen farms at Sambo, said that a few days ago, two thousand Kadaknath and an equal number of Gramapriya chickens were ordered for Dhoni’s farm and they were ready to be shipped.
Kadaknath chicken was to be brought from Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh while Grampriya was to be ordered from Hyderabad, but after the ongoing alert about the possibility of bird flu, Dhoni has postponed the program for now.
Kadaknath chicken is being cultivated at Dhoni’s farmhouse, Gramapriya hen breed is also being brought. Kadaknath chicken has also been reared in a part of Dhoni’s 43-acre farm house. Gramapriya hens are also being brought in addition to the Kadaknath chickens which are being raised in MS Dhoni’s farmhouse.
