West Indies debutant Kyle Mayer who blasted unbeaten 210 runs to help his gun down a 295 run total against Bangladesh in the first Test at Chattogram said that his knock will inspire youngsters.

West Indies’ 28-year-old debutant Kyle Mayers who scored unbeaten 210 in the 4th innings to help his team chase a monumental 395 run) target set by hosts Bangladesh, has said that his knock will inspire the youngsters.
The Barbados-born left-hander smashed 20 fours and 7 sixes, stitching 216 and 100 runs with Nkrumah Bonner (86) and Joshua Da Silva (20) as West Indies registered the 5th highest successful run chase in the history of Test cricket.
In the post-match presentation ceremony, Mayers added that he always believed in his abilities. He thanked his teammates and family for their support.
“I’m always positive and believed in my ability, and believed that we could get there. We never give up, and keep fighting. The skipper and the coach tell us to keep fighting. Shannon put in a great effort on that wicket and that inspired all of us to do well. It’s a great feeling to be playing Test cricket, and then going on to score 100, 200 and then to win the match, it’s a really special feeling. I’d love to thank the coach, captain, teammates, coaches and family back home as well. I’m really grateful to everyone. A guy making his debut and scoring a double will definitely inspire youngsters,” Kyle Mayers said.
The southpaw now claims the record of highest runs in the fourth innings of the Test by a debutant. Moreover, the Barbados-born has become only the second player to score a double hundred in a successful chase. His overall score of 250 runs (1st and 2nd innings combined) is the 4th highest match aggregate on Test debut. Further, Mayers is the first cricketer to score a 4th innings double ton in Asia.
West Indies have taken a 1-0 unbeatable lead in the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh.
