Shafali Verma showcased why she is rated No. 1 in the T20I batting charts with a power-packed batting display that helped India women seal a consolation win in the final T20I of a 3-match series against South Africa women in Lucknow on Tuesday. Shafali hit a 30-ball 60 as India women gunned down a 113-run target in just 11 overs. However, the visitors claimed the T20I series 2-1.

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana were in the mood to hit some big ones. 17-year-old Shafali hit 5 sixes and 7 boundaries as senior opening partner Mandhana was happy to play second fiddle in their explosive opening stand of 96 which came in just 8.3 overs.

Earlier in the day, Rajeshwari Gayakwad led the show of Indian spinners with figures of 3 for 9 as South Africa women were restricted to 112 for 7 in their quota of 20 overs.
