Brands and designers have now reimagined this age old technique of making clothes by using a crochet hook to interlock loops of yarn and are making not just shirts but also trousers, vests and even accessories like bags and hats.


Post pandemic, fashion aficianados are more inclined towards investing in handcrafted designs and that’s the reason this technique has now become a big hit. Here’s what fashion experts have to says.


“Crochet shirts have that perfect bohemian vibe. It was a big trend in the 70s’. And in 2021, these crochet shirts are way different from how are grannies used to knit sweaters for us, since they have a modern appeal going by today’s style sensibility,” says designer Anvita Sharma from Two Point Two.


You can either layer these shirt with a vest or just wear it with your denims accessorised with a pearl neckpiece. Designer Abhishek Tibrewal from Abkasa shares some styling tips. “Choose from rustic earthy tones for maximum impact. Team it with khaki trousers or off-white chinos. Tan or brown leather accesories are a must to complete the look. Canvas jackets, unbleached denim jackets are cool layering options. Corduroy pants in biscuit, coco brown are also great if the crochet piece is in ivory. It adds an the interesting texture to a more fun boho appeal. One can also layer crochet shirts as shacket with a tank and baggy jeans and a bucket hat to channel the cool Y2K youthquake spirit.
