Youn Yuh Jung, alongside several ‘Minari’ cast members invited to join Academy after Oscars win – Eagles Vine

Oscar-winning Best Supporting Actress Youn Yuh-Jung and Oscar Best Actor nominee Steven Yeun of the American drama film ‘Minari’ have been invited to become members of the Academy.

Besides the above mentioned, numerous other cast and crew members of the blockbuster movie, including actress Han Yeri, director Lee Isaac Chung, producer Christina Oh, film editor Harry Yoon and composer Emile Mosseri, have also been asked to join the team.

The movie ‘Minari’ deserves the honorary award for its undeniable extraordinary performance and especially the veteran South Korean actress Youn Yuh Jung, who created history through her character Soon Ja. Youn, with this achievement, became the first Korean actor ever to get nominated for and win an acting Award at the Oscars.

The news came to light on July 1, when the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences [AMPAS], the only institution responsible for holding the annual Academy Awards, revealed that it had invited a total of 395 artists and executives to join its team.

‘Minari’, with its stunning record, achieved six Oscar nominations, mainly for Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Score.

Moreover, if the cast and crew members accept their invitations and become members of the Academy, they will be eligible to vote for the Academy Awards in future years.
