Was Kriti Sanon supposed to play the bold Rani Kashyap in ‘Haseen Dillruba’?- Exclusive! – Eagles Vine

For days, Team ‘Haseen Dillruba’ has been going around saying that they were almost going with some heroine other than Taapsee Pannu for the role of Rani Kashyap, but they didn’t reveal that name. From what ETimes has heard, the actress in the running was Kriti Sanon. Buzz was that one of the film’s producers, Aanand L Rai, was keen on bringing Kriti on board. So what transpired? Why did Kriti jump out of the ‘Haseen Dillruba’ boat? Wasn’t Taapsee, too, in the reckoning?

We hear the producer-director had spoken to Taapsee during ‘Manmarziyaan’ and she was okay with it but for some reason, Rai then spoke to Kriti.

We further hear that Kriti loved the story when she first heard it, but after Rai was almost sure that she was his Rani Kashyap, Kriti had second thoughts. It is being said that Kriti got apprehensive about the role which demanded her to be rather bold on-screen.

A few changes were then made in the script as a natural progression and consequently, Taapsee loved the role she was going to experiment with, and which was so unlike her previous avatars. Whether the makers approached anyone else after Kriti is also not known.

Rai and Kriti remained unavailable for a quote.

‘Haseen Dillruba’ also stars Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane. The film has been directed by Vinil Mathew.
