‘Vakeel Saab’ box-office Day 1: Pawan Kalyan starrer becomes Indian cinema’s biggest opener post pandemic – Eagles Vine

Pawan Kalyan’s comeback film after three years, Vakeel Saab is wreaking havoc at the box-office. Released on April 9th in over 2000 screens all across the world, the courtroom drama emerged as the biggest opener in Indian cinema post the pandemic. According to Box Office India, Vakeel Saab collected a massive sum of close to Rs 38 crore nett in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and the rest of the country combined. It also breached the half-million-dollar mark in the United States. The film is expected to dominate the proceedings over the weekend.

Despite the second wave of COVID-19 and the ticket hike, fans are thronging into the theaters in large numbers and celebrating the glorious return of the Powerstar. Celebrities like Mahesh Babu have also heaped praises on the film and called it a ‘blockbuster’.

Despite having fan-pleasing elements like stunt sequences and the episode of the hero saving the downtrodden, the film majorly focussed on the stories of the three women and the predicament they are caught in. The courtroom scenes between Pawan Kalyan and Prakash Raj in the second half are receiving a terrific response from the viewers. Vakeel Saab is the Telugu remake of Bollywood superhit film Pink.

While Nivetha Thomas stepped into the shoes of Taapsee Pannu in the Venu Sriram directorial, Anjali and Ananya Nagalla reprised the roles of Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang from the original. Shruti Haasan played the role of Vidya Balan from the Tamil remake of Pink titled ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’. The social thriller that garnered critical acclaim in Hindi and Tamil addresses misogyny, consent and women issues in the country.
