Taapsee Pannu has come out in support of Kareena Kapoor Khan who was recently attacked by people on social media for reportedly hiking her fee to play the mythological character of Sita in an upcoming film.

Speaking about the issue, Taapsee told a news portal that if the same was done by a man, people would have said, ‘Iski market value badh gayi hai’. According to her, just because a woman is asking for it, she is called “difficult” and “too demanding”.

Elaborating further, she added that you will always read about this problem, issue of hiked salary with women. However, she questions, why not? According to her, Kareena is one of the biggest female superstars we have in the country and if she commands a certain salary for her time, it’s her job. She also went on to point out that other mythological characters that are played by men don’t do it for free.

Reports were rife that Kareena Kapoor had hiked her remuneration from around Rs 6 to 8 crore to Rs 12 crore for the Sita film. The film was reportedly a retelling of the Ramayana from Sita’s perspective.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Taapsee has some very interesting films in her kitty which includes, ‘Haseen Dillruba’, ‘Rashmi Rocket’, ‘Woh Ladki Hai Kahan’, ‘Shabhash Mithu’ and others.

Kareena, on the other hand, will next be seen in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ co-starring Aamir Khan in the lead role. She also has Karan Johar’s period drama, ‘Takht’.
