Saira Khan didn

Linda Robson, 62, has revealed exclusively to Express.co.uk how she was “shocked” by Saira Khan’s announcement that she was leaving Loose Women earlier this year. The Birds Of A Feather actress had no idea her colleague would be exiting the talk show, and only found out after her sister dropped the bombshell news mid-conversation.

When asked about what happened, Linda explained: “Saira was a big shock, I mean she wasn’t coming into the studio, she was doing it from home.

“So I was surprised she didn’t want to carry on. She was doing once or twice a week from home, so it was a surprise,” she added.

However, Linda understands her reasoning behind leaving the programme, as she is now set to focus on her skincare venture Saira Skin.

The small screen regular continued: “She has a got a lovely skincare range out, and she does a lot of work with that, she’s absolutely beautiful.

“She was really good on Loose Women, and I think they will really miss her. I know we all will.”

Saira is not the only star to have left Loose Women as of late, with anchor Andrea McLean bowing out from the show at the end of last year.

Linda continued: “It was within a couple of weeks of each other. Andrea, I knew she was going, she had already told me, but Saira, I didn’t have a clue.”

She added: “I think my sister told me that she was going.”

Saira had been a part of Loose Women since 2015, after appearing on The Apprentice, but left the show after lockdown made her question her priorities going forward.

In an interview following her departure, Saira admitted she won’t be keeping in contact with all of her co-stars, after only “tolerating” some of them in a professional capacity.

Appearing on Celebrity Skin Talk, Saira shared “You make friends with some people, you tolerate some people, and some people you are just there to do the job with.”

Hinting at on-set tension, she added: “I’m not going to go into the nitty-gritty here now. There are some I will be close to because we get each other. And there are some I won’t miss at all who I was just like, ‘I just have to tolerate you to do the job.’”

Meanwhile, Linda is appearing on screens in revamped MTV programme Celebs On The Farm, where she takes on a number of challenges in the great outdoors.

The actress has had to tackle birthing calves and handling pigs, alongside other famous faces.

Linda said: “I had to milk a cow one day, and I thought it would be in my hand, but it was all done by machinery. You just realised how hard a farmers day is.”

Celebs On The Farm airs tonight on MTV at 9pm.
