Rubina Dilaik beats 50 girls in the look-test to bag her Bollywood debut ‘Ardh’: Palash Muchhal – Exclusive! – Eagles Vine

Rubina Dilaik is on cloud nine and she hasn’t yet spoken on her maiden film in Bollywood, ‘Ardh’, which goes on floors in September. The time was right to speak to the film’s director and get details. An hour ago, ETimes spoke to singer Palak Muchhal’s brother Palash who will be wielding the megaphone. Palash sounded quite excited about his cast–Rubina Dilaik, Hiten Tejwani and Rajpal Yadav–finally locked and ready to face the camera. “We will be shooting ‘Ardh’ over a period of two months. It will be shot on real locales and not on set”.

Why? “That’s largely because the film is based on a real-life story. Actually, it’s a story that may have happened in the lives of other people too”. What’s the film about? Palash revealed, “It’s a story of a man who comes to Mumbai to become an actor. That role is played by Rajpal Yadav.” And what do Rubina and Hiten play? “Rubina supports Rajpal, she isn’t romantically linked with him. As for Hiten, he plays Rajpal’s best friend”.

Explaining the title in conjunction with Rajpal’s part, Palash said, “Well, the title ‘Ardh’ means half, which is in sync with the ‘unfulfilled dream’ in my movie”.

Coming back to Rubina, Palash said that her character of Radhika in ‘Chhoti Bahu’ tilted the scales in her favour, beating no less than 50 others who aspired for the same. “Besides, she came across very good in her look test. About 50 girls had undergone the look test before her. I didn’t audition her; I don’t audition female actors. Also, I must say that I recollected Rubina’s part in ‘Choti Bahu’ and decided on her after drawing inferences from it. Yes, I had seen her in ‘Bigg Boss 14’ too but didn’t see that show much, but many of my family members were avid watchers of it.”

And will his sister Palak Muchhal be the only female voice in the songs picturised on Rubina, we asked. “Nope, I will have Sunidhi Chauhan and Palak both. The romantic numbers will be sung by Palak, while Sunidhi will lend her voice to the peppy ones”.

This afternoon, we had spoken to Hiten about ‘Ardh’ and he said that he will be meeting Rubina on ‘Ardh’ after 11 years. Hiten was also a part of ‘Choti Bahu’.

“Hiten is perfect for the part. I have known him since the days I made a film with him where he was cast opposite Rituparna Sengupta. It was called ‘Tere Aane Se’ but couldn’t be released till date. He is a fine actor,” Palash added.

In fact, Hiten had spoken to us a few days back saying that he has some exciting projects lined up. Below is the video interview for those who’ve come in late.

How come Palash developed a yearning to direct a movie? Isn’t he more in the music field? “Yes, I have directed several music videos with Shaheer Sheikh, Rashami Desai, Parth Samthaan, and many other actors. But the bug of direction had bitten me when I worked in the Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone-starrer ‘Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey’ (2010), directed by Ashutosh Gowariker”.

‘Ardh’ is being targeted by Palash for an OTT release. “We are working out the modalities. Mostly, it will land first on OTT. I don’t think the theatres are opening before December and even if they do, I think the public will be apprehensive about patronising them. I would like the film to be available for viewing in early 2022,” Palash concluded.
