Red Velvet’s Yeri opens up about her first lead drama ‘Blue Birthday’: I have put my heart and soul – Eagles Vine

South Korean girl group Red Velvet’s member Yeri is all set to star in her first drama ‘Blue Birthday’ as the lead. Recently, she has shared her excitement for the upcoming premiere of her drama during an interview.

Yeri told Soompi that she put her heart and soul into preparing for ‘Blue Birthday’.”The entire cast and crew worked really hard, so I have no doubt that the end result will be a great drama. I hope that viewers will show a lot of support for the drama” she said.

Touted to be a fantasy romance thriller, ‘Blue Birthday’ is helmed by Playlist, whose previous works were ‘A-TEEN’ and ‘Love Playlist. While Yeri will be sharing the screen space in the drama with actors Yang Hong Seok and Lee Sang Jun, it also stars Kim Yi Seo and Kim Gyeol Yu.

In the drama, Yeri will be seen as Oh Ha Rin, a 28-year-old whose first love died ten years ago on her 18th birthday. On the same fateful day, she had finally resolved to confess her feelings to her friend Ji Seo Jun (played by Hongseok from PENTAGON), but then to her surprise and despair, he ended up killing himself.

The story further focuses on Oh Ha Rin who later discovers some odd images of Ji Seo Jun left behind ten years after the tragic tragedy. She unintentionally travels back in time and revisits the past after making a wish to meet him one more time.

Yeri will essentially be essaying two different characters in her first leading role as an actress: the blissfully innocent as well as cheerful Oh Ha Rin in her teens, who hasn’t yet experienced darkness in her life, and the melancholy Oh Ha Rin in her late twenties, who is still grieving the loss of her first love.

The two star-crossed lovers sit together outside their school building in the newly published poster of the online drama, and looked a picture-perfect couple.

‘Blue Birthday’ will premiere on July 23, at 7 p.m. KST.
