Monty Don gives garden update after sharing ‘daunting’ pictures of it flooded

Monty Don took to Instagram yesterday to share an update with his 722,000 followers. The gardening expert, who lives with his wife and two dogs in Herefordshire, revealed that Longmeadow, his own garden, was making a good recovery, 24 hours after being underwater.

He posted a photo of a tree-lined pathway on the picture-sharing site to show what a difference a day can make.

Large trees basked in the winter sunshine as pretty flowers emerged in the shade.

Snowdrops and Hellebores could be seen despite the previous day’s heavy rainfall.

The area, which was bursting with new life, had been completely flooded earlier in the week.

Additional pictures showed different parts of his estate underwater.

A photo from his bedroom window captured the surrounding meadows.

Monty also took to Twitter to speak about the flood water, which he described as a “minor inconvenience.”

His tweet, in view of his 207,800 followers, read: “Just a note: Longmeadow is surrounded by water meadows that have flooded for thousands of years.
