However, earlier today, Monty confirmed this would not be the case and Adam Frost will be stepping in instead.

He replied: “No – Adam will take the helm to cover.”

Gardeners’ World is filmed a week in advance, however, so viewers will still see Monty helming the show this week.

He wrote earlier today: “Finished day two of reading ‘My Garden World’ for audio book.

“It has gone well and after 14 hours solid reading are ahead of schedule with only another 100 pages to go (sic).

“Will continue and finish on Thursday after a day attending to the rest of life tomorrow.”

His followers shared his excitement following the news, replying to his message.

“Yes we can’t wait, had it on pre order for a while and am looking forward to listening,” added another.

A third fan penned: “Can’t wait, just finished the Audiobook Down to Earth this week.

“Gave me some fantastic ideas!”

While another continued: “Plus that gives your perfect pipes a rest!

“14 hours is herculean for that job. Will be first in line to get it.
