Louise Redknapp lets slip candid clue about ex-husband on Masked Dancer amid ‘tough year’

Louise Redknapp was unmasked as Flamingo on Sunday night’s edition of The Masked Dancer. The former Eternal bandmate became the second celebrity to be revealed on the show after the judges opted to save Squirrel and the Frog.

The 46-year-old confessed it has been a “tough year” after the singer landed in the bottom three.

During the ITV show, viewers may have already predicted Flamingo’s identity after it was noted that the person behind the mask was an “icon” in her VT and there were several references to a magazine.

Following Louise’s unveiling, the singer explained that she and her ex-husband Jamie created Icon sports magazine together.

The Masked Dancer judge, Jonathan Ross, admitted he was able to correctly predict Louise following the clue.

He quizzed: “But the magazine thing, the Icon thing, you worked at a magazine didn’t you? You had a magazine called Icon?”

Louise replied: “Yeah we had a magazine, which was for sport and everything.”

The magazine was set up by Louise and Jamie in 2003 and was aimed at celebrity readership.

The couple were married for 19 years and currently co-parent their two sons together, Charley, 16, and Beau, 12, after the pair divorced in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Masked Dancer panellists had incorrectly guessed the Flamingo star, as Oti Mabuse picked Lisa Snowdon, while Mo Gilligan guessed Maya Jama, and Davina McCall picked Dani Dyer.

Oti was particularly surprised to see Louise on the show after they danced together during the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

She said: “We’ve done dance classes together, we were on tour together, Strictly final together, there was one move where I thought it could be you but then I thought your costume is very pink and Louise would never wear pink!”

Speaking about taking part in the show, Louise commented: “I love dancing and I think after such a tough year in lockdown I thought I really need to get out of the house, and it’s brought a massive smile to my face.”
