Iulia Vantur on ‘Seeti Maar’: Salman Khan is the one who encouraged me to sing – Eagles Vine

Iulia Vantur is being showered with love for ‘Seeti Maar’ and her rendition for Disha Patani in the peppy track has received a positive response. This song happened by accident when Iulia went about her usual recordings with Sajid-Wajid and the result is charming everyone! In an interaction with ETimes, Iulia opened up about ‘Seeti Maar’, perfecting her Hindi nuances and the support she has received from Salman Khan. Excerpts:

How did ‘Seeti Maar’ happen?
I go often go to Sajid-Wajid’s studio, they have been of great help to me, they used to call me to the studio to practice, to get used to the mike and rehearse. There are many songs that I have recorded with them. Wajid was good support and I have learnt so much from him, and Sajid as well. I am so grateful that I had the chance to work with both of them. It has been a blessing for me to be around them. So, I have rehearsed songs without even known it and that’s what happened with ‘Seeti Maar’. They were just trying the song and I recorded it thinking that it is just a casual test and later on I was surprised when my recording, my voice has been selected for ‘Seeti Maar’.

How do you work on getting the Hindi nuances right?
I am still working on my Hindi pronunciations as I want it to be as perfect as possible. From the first song that I have recorded to now, it is a big difference because I got used to the words, by speaking in Hindi with mostly the people around me because I know they will not judge. Otherwise I don’t have the courage to speak in Hindi, unless it is for a song or a movie. But there are times when I get stuck with one word because you have to get the nuance right. But I repeat and rehearse till I get it right.

Which is the best compliment you have received for ‘Seeti Maar’?
I think the best compliment is ‘No, this was not sung by a foreigner’! When I hear that, that’s the best reward for me. This means that my practice and efforts have paid off.

What kind of support have you received from Salman Khan?
Salman is actually the one who encouraged me to sing. He has faith in me and has seen something in me which I have not. When he believes in someone, he gives the credit to that person and encourages that person. He always says, “You have to give your best, work hard and you will achieve much more than you can imagine”. So that holds true. I mean, look at him, he has had a wonderful career with more than 30 years in the industry and that’s a big thing. There are very people in this world who can maintain the same standard for so long. He has faced so many challenges but done so well, so there is a lot of learn from Salman’s journey.

Have you watched ‘Radhe’? How would you review it?
A bit and it is super! You have to watch it for sure! It has great action, performance, a good story – everything is there in it!
