BTS’ ‘Butter’ becomes longest-running No 1 debut by a group in Billboard Hot 100 history; band says ‘BTS ARMY We Purple You’ – Eagles Vine

There is just no stopping K-Pop superstars BTS! The boys added another page to the history books with ‘Butter’ by maintaining their hold over the number 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for the sixth consecutive week.

With this, BTS extended their record as the longest-running No 1 debut by a group in Billboard chart history. That’s not all. ‘Butter’ is among less than ten songs to spend its first six weeks on the top spot in music history.

Thanking BTS ARMY for their support and help in attainting this feat, RM, Jin, Jimin, J-Hope, JungKook, SUGA and V took to Twitter to say, “We’re making history together with #BTS_Butter HUGE thanks to #BTSARMY We Purple You.”

According to reports on Chart Data, ‘Butter’ also remained at the No 1 spot on the Digital Song Sales chart. The band recorded the biggest sixth-week sales that were reportedly higher than any other song this year.

Hitting another high, ‘Butter’ remained the top track on Billboard’s Songs of the Summer 2021 chart this week.

The K-Pop stars are also the only group after Aerosmith to spend as many weeks on the top of music charts. The American rockers spent a total of 5 weeks on the top of Billboard charts with their 1998 hit song, ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ that featured in the Ben Affleck and Bruce Willis starrer ‘Armourgedon’.

As far as their music video is concerned, it surpassed 400 million views on YouTube, becoming their 13th MV to do so.

Also showing no signs of budging from their top spots was Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Doja Cat who maintained their hold over the top spots.

BTS is currently gearing up to drop their ‘Butter’ CD. Ahead of the big launch next month, the boys have been sharing cool concept photoshoot images.

The concept of the shoot is derived from the band’s hit ‘Butter’ music video. The boys are also gearing up to launch their new single in collaboration with Grammy-Award winner Ed Sheeran. The summer track titled ‘Permission to Dance’ is set to drop later this week.

BTS released the teaser of the song that has since taken over top trends.
