Andrea McLean: Loose Women star went home with husband hours after meeting on blind date

Former Loose Women panellist Andrea McLean, 51, has revealed that she went home with her husband just four hours after meeting him for the first time on a blind date. Appearing on the Sliding Doors podcast, Andrea told how she was hesitant to go on the blind date in the first place following her divorce but experienced palpable chemistry with the mystery man who she ended up marrying two years after meeting.

The journalist told how she went on a blind date with her current husband Nick Feeney, despite being initially hesitant about the set-up.

She said: “I’d been set up on this blind date, I’d never been on a date before really because although I’d been married before, I’d never been on the dating scene.

“I met the father of my son, my first husband, we met in school, I sat behind him in geography.

The Instagram star added that she only went as she felt obliged to go as her friend had set her up, which she later found out was the same reason Nick had attended too.

Andrea went on to say how she had to put a lot of planning and preparation ahead of the big night which saw her drop her two children off at their fathers and the dog at the kennels.

She joked: “By the time I got there I thought this had better be a good night because I’ve been making so much effort to get here!”

After seeing her blind date for the first time, the ITV former star realised that he looked “just as nervous” as she was, as he was going through a divorce.

“It turned out he didn’t want to be there either”, she admitted.

Andrea explained: “I’d been divorced for a while, he was getting divorced and it was a really difficult time for him and he literally only went for the same reason as he was friends with the husband and he was like, ‘Right ok, I’ll go not to let you down'”.

However, after leaving the Brighton bar to go clubbing, the star told how her date turned out to be “really fun.”

“Then we went clubbing, which again, in itself is quite rare for me and we went disco dancing, and he turned out to be loads of fun,” she said.

But after being guided by her blind date through the crowded dance floor, Andrew soon realised that Nick was perfect for her.

“It was a very busy room and at this point we haven’t touched each other and he took my hand to guide me through this guided room and it was like a bolt of electricity went though both of us and time stood still,” she explained.

Andrea went on: “The whole room stopped, the music stopped, the noise stopped, there was just us. And we looked at each other like we hadn’t seen each other before.

“And then he kissed me and I am not the kind of girl that does this kind of thing, but we snogged like teenagers in this nightclub in Brighton with sticky floors and 45 minutes later came up for air.”

“But it was the strangest thing as we hadn’t expected that to happen at all,” the TV host continued.

The ex-Loose Women star revealed that following their palpable chemistry, she left the nightclub with her new man in tow.

“And then I did something that I’ve never done in my whole life and I just said, ‘Shall we go?’

“And I went home with him and I’d known him for four hours and we’ve been together ever since,” she added happily.

The pair went on their blind date in 2015 and they tied the knot two years later in November 2017 with a star-studded ceremony.
