Akshay Kumar: Keeping my fingers crossed that ‘Sooryavanshi’ releases as soon as possible – Eagles Vine

Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif-starrer ’Sooryavanshi’ has been one of the most highly-anticipated films ever since it was first announced in the end credits of the 2018 film ‘Simmba’. The Rohit Shetty-directorial was set to release in March 2020 but got postponed due to the pandemic.

Since it’s Akshay and Katrina’s comeback film, fans are quite excited to watch them on the big screen. Even the film’s trailer was well appreciated by the audience. On Monday afternoon, Akshay, who promises to pack a punch with the theatrical release of ‘Bell Bottom’ post the second coronavirus wave, spoke about the much-awaited cop film.

During the media interaction, Akshay was asked if the release of ‘Bell Bottom’ will be followed by Sooryavanshi, to which the actor joked, “
‘Sooryavanshi’ ke baare me sirf do hi insaan jaante hai – ek Bhagwan aur dusra Rohit Shetty (laughs) (Only two people are aware of Sooryavanshi’s release–God and Rohit Shetty)”. Further, on being asked if they were planning to release the film on Diwali 2021, Akshay replied, “I have no idea about it. But I hope so; I am also keeping my fingers crossed that it releases as soon as possible. I am very excited and I want to watch the film on the big screen”.

Earlier, Rohit Shetty had opened up about the film at an event. When he was asked if there was a concern about the content of the film getting old or stale as they have waited for so long for the situation to return to normal, he had said, “I never believe content will become old or something like that where my film is concerned. We had a promo out. There have been films that were shot and ready for three years and are all waiting”.

Meanwhile, the Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Bell Bottom’ will be the first film to release in theatres on August 19 post the second wave of Covid-19. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Huma Qureshi. The team shot amid the pandemic in Scotland last year.
