‘Agneepath’ actor Resham Arora: I fell off a train and I am broke – Exclusive! – Eagles Vine

It’s just those five or six actors that matter to us when a film releases but spare a thought for those who do short roles around the main six characters to propel their characters and take the story forward. 71-year old actor Resham Arora has been one such. But today, Resham is in a severe financial crunch. Here’s his heart-rending story:

Resham, who played the doctor in ‘Agneepath’ who treats Mithun Chakraborty, and the jailor in ‘Khuda Gawah’ apart from featuring in a host of other films and TV shows, tells ETimes, “There is absolutely no work for me. This has been the state ever since the lockdown began. While people say ‘cheezein khul rahi hai (things are opening up now)’, I still don’t see sufficient work opportunities available.”

He goes on to detail the series of tragic events that led to his hardship. He says, “I fell off a train a couple of years ago, and then was bitten in the leg by some strange insect at a shoot for Ashwini Dheer’s show ‘Chidiya Ghar’, which hindered my movement for some time. Being in a precarious condition, tragedy further struck me when my wife’s eyesight started deteriorating; she contracted acute glaucoma. I am seriously in need of work. CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes Association) has helped me a bit but that’s definitely not enough to keep us in good condition. I am broke. I need financial aid.”

The senior actor is dealing with the adversity and uncertainty of life in showbiz, but he’s hoping that his peers from the film industry will help revive his career and turn his misfortune around.
