Korean boy band 2PM member Taecyeon is confirmed to star opposite Kim Hye-yoon in tvN’s upcoming historical-comedy drama ‘The Secret Royal Inspector and Jo Yi’ (literal translation).

The series revolves around a young gourmet who unintentionally ends up securing a job of a royal inspect. His life changes after meeting a divorced lady and both embark on a journey to defeat corrupt politicians of their province.

Taecyeon will be seen as secret royal inspector Ra Yi Eon who aims to live a humble life and open a small dumpling kiosk on the outskirts of the capital city where the property is cheap. However, his sharp brain gets him through the state examination and he ends up becoming an officer- a dream job for others. He is a lazy homebody who is only concerned about his lunch breaks amid work and waits to get home so that he can cook himself dumplings and lounge around his room.

Things change when he crosses path with Kim Jo-yi aka Kim Hye-yoon, an unconventional woman who left her husband after surviving her stressful married life. While she thinks her new life has just hit another dead end after meeting the secret royal inspector, things gradually change for her.

Talking about the fresh pair up, the production team of ‘The Secret Royal Inspector And Jo Yi’ revealed that the novel and fresh chemistry between the actors is what the makers are looking forward to.

The drama is helmed by ‘Designated Survivor:60 Days” director Yoo Jong Sun and penned by ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim’ screenwriter Lee Jae Yoon. It will air in the second half of this year.

Taecyeon was last seen in Song Joong-ki starter ‘Vincenzo.’
